Our Projects
BK Commercial were asked by CGS Consultants to design and construct a new £1.2m building, creating a brand-new café and indoor soft play area at the much-loved family visitor attraction.
The Engine Shed is a brand new 7,000 square foot steel-framed building, designed and built by the team at BK Commercial. The building contains a large coffee shop and café overlooking the picturesque canoeing lake, with a substantial soft play area where young children can play safely. There is also an outdoor park area, as well as a beautifully decked area to enjoy coffee and lunch outdoors.
Work has now been completed and the new building is open for visitors.
BK Commercial worked with respected architects, Morris and Blunt Ltd on a £2.6m extension and refurbishment scheme at the Willink School in Reading. The project consists of different phases including the construction of a new two-storey extension, changing room extensions, internal classroom modifications and external works.
Working on behalf of West Berkshire Council, the project is due to run until September 2021, but is progressing well as you can see from the latest images. All the structural steelwork has been installed, together with the completion of the ground floor slab, suspended concrete floor planks and staircases.
Currently, installation is underway for DPMs, Intumescent coatings, roof coverings, and external walls, with brickwork and timber claddings now beginning.
Please check back here for regular updates as the project progresses to completion.
This project, completed with Morris and Blunt Ltd, featured the design and construction of a new two-storey Nursery building, comprised of fire resistant steel frame, clad in Siberian larch timber, complete with internal fit out and surrounding landscaping.
To suit the architectural layout, the team at BK Commercial constructed a portal steel frame building onto new foundations. The building envelope consisted of brickwork and blockwork at half height with a steel frame making the rest of the structure. This frame was then covered in a timber cladding for aesthetic consistency with the surrounding environment and neighbouring structures.
Internally, electrical and mechanical systems were installed including new lighting, power, data, and plumbing, along with a heating and ventilation system. As well as this, an internal lift was installed for ease of access.
